Week three, term three 2014.

Chloe is delighted to have filled her sticker chart! Great helping and learning, Chloe.
 Sharing time.
Monday and Thursday mornings are special in our classroom as we have an oral language sharing time where children bring something from home to share with their peers. We share in a 'doughnut' circle and every child has the opportunity to converse with others on a one to one basis, taking turns to hold each others sharing and talk together.
Alissa loves stroking Talia's little cuddly husky dog.

Zach is excited to be beginning swimming lessons and has a new shark cap!

Dominic is sharing with Hamish.

Amazing concentration from everyone.

Max loves his Lego book from the library.
After swimming sessions we have a picnic lunch (outside if it is fine) and the opportunity to play together on the Junior Playground for a little while before returning to class. It is great to have the equipment all to ourselves!!
Wow Hamish, great balancing skills!

Harrison, just hanging about!

As part of sharing time on Thursday, I shared my gift from Mr Savill - he bought me a shopping trolley for my desk! I filled it with those little Countdown cards I had saved and pushed it around the circle so every child could choose a little gift each.

Amy is strong too!
We were so fortunate to be approached as a school by Nayland College, who offered to perform for us. A group of fourteen Nayland students came to our school hall on Thursday and sang and played for the whole school. It was tremendous to share their talents.
Indigo and Ngaio.

Oops, more playing - Arrayah and Spencer.

Listening in awe as the girls sang and played for us all.

One swimming group.

Thea-Jane has learned to balance on the chains this week.

Ka Pai Zach, you have completed your first writing goal sheet in your Draft Book!

That picnic lunch after swimming I mentioned earlier.

We are swimming every day for two weeks and the progress the children are making is fabulous. Most days the Aquatics centre staff leave special floating aids for us to teach the children about and some o fate pictures below show these in action.
Talia experimenting with a life jacket.

Getting ready for our first lesson!

Alissa learning to float.

Zach, Hamish and Amy are the best swimmers in our class.

They have a very good teacher too.

More floating...

Great listening.

Playing 'monkeys'.

Off for a ride!
We are learning about percussion in Music this term and the older children in my class helped the younger ones make shakers of their own in order that whenever we get a few minutes free we can play along when we sing and I play my ukulele.

This is Harrisons shaker.

Hopefully you have enjoyed our week in photos! It has been an exhausting one for your children and early bed times are recommended as we have another whole week of swimming next week!!!

Thanks for reading to the end and have a good weekend. Cheers! Mrs Savill :)
