Week eight in our lovely class, Ngaio.

Our visit to Birchwood Kindy was great fun, it didn't rain and we got to see all our old friend again!

One of the trees has been chopped down so we had fun in the branches.

Lockie and Isla found and matched words they can read now.

We got together with Room Two to begin making cardboard games for our gala day and checked everyone's heights - we used the tallest and shortest to make the beginnings of a game of skill....

The oldest children from Kindy came to share our mat time on Thursday with Elaine and Joey.

Gymnastics training started this week.

One of our Maths groups is learning to identify numbers to 10.

Ordering them is tricky business.

Another maths group are working in pairs to order numbers to ten and match with dot patterns then play a matching memory game.

Gosh, Amelia-Rose is a busy girl collecting stickers for great tidying up, work, sight words knowledge and helpful attitude.

Our new kidney shaped reading table is a real success.

Star of the week, week eight.

I am so delighted to be able to award our certificate this week to Locklan. He has showed great motivation towards his learning this week, keen to start every day with our Early Words programme together, concentrating and finding his words in other books and around our classroom. He has been looking after our new children and even taught them to make shakers for music this week. Ka Pai Locklan!

We had another hockey session - in the hall this time, we played tunnel this week.

This is Ms Todd, we have been team teaching this week in the mornings and it has been wonderful.

This is how we play tunnel, we try to hit the big ball with our little hockey ball and it is all in the timing!

Finishing our 'marvellous meals' these are now laminated and up on display - do come and see them this week!

We have done potato prints as well as butterflies and a big display is on our board in the hall at school now.

We had a wonderful experience on Thursday afternoon when Nicky the educator from Nelson museum shared many instruments with us.

Star of the week in week seven,Room One.

Bella is our star this week to reflect her superb attitude at all times. Bella is kind and helpful, the first to celebrate the successes of others and a great role model for new children coming into our class (and there have been a lot of those recently!). Bella is always 'ready to learn' and a real joy to teach. Ka Pai, Bella!

Week six in our lovely classroom.

Our letter of the week this week is 'm' and we made ourselves place mats with our own idea of a 'marvellous meal' on it. We plan to dye these and have them laminated next week so that we can bring them home and use at home when eating our meals at the table.

In maths our focus has been making a whole into two halves and identifying half of a shape.

Phoenix is learning to write 1/2 as well.

Continuing our technology unit of 'I like to move it, move it' we explored making our own spinners from a pencil and a lid from a container - see how they go!

Part of the fun of halving was eating a half a piece of bread!

Maia had her first visit this week.

Cross country was on Wednesday and the weather was perfect! Off you go, boys.

A little musical moment (we have lots of these!)

We have made a class book about 'Something you need to know when you start school' and this was the photo for the front - thought you'd like to see it. Macey was off sick, though.

A visit from Captain Cashtastic from ASB bank on Friday was a hit. He taught the children about spending and saving and they have learned to 'speed to your needs, and wait for your wants'.

Sammy filled her chart as well.

Isla did great homework.

Friday afternoon, relaxing together in the sandpit, playing beautifully and sharing.

We are such a tidy class we were awarded the "we care " award as we look after our environment.

Wednesday - Library day, remember to bring your book back. Those children who will be in Room Two from June 8th are beginning their transitioning today. Hockey this morning!
