Welcome to Term 2, 2015!

Bodie held a snake on holiday in Australia and shared his photo at show and tell on Monday.
A very warm welcome to Room One's blog. Each week we publish a selection of photos to show some of the learning we have been doing in our class. I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures of your children busy at work and encourage you to share this with your child.

We have been reading the big book 'Dawn Parade' (many of us will be at the dawn parade on Saturday April 25th) and have been making poppies of our own to remember the soldiers who died in the first world war. We made our poppies using our handprints and these are on display in our class in the shape of a heart. Do come and see them.

English had a haircut in the break - doesn't he look smart and grown-up?

Keira started school on Wednesday, welcome Keira!

During our Discovery time, Bella made a super mosaic with the shapes, matching those on the template perfectly.

Sam busily made a card our of cards for her brother Vinny. She was meticulous with her scissors.

Bradley had great fun as a pirate!

Each class was asked to make a giant poppy for our Friday Anzac memorial assembly. You can see the children working together to paint our poppies petals.

Nearly done, only two more to go! (Time to swap children so everyone had a turn).

Jazzer so enjoyed making a rabbit with shapes. She started school on Monday.

Elaine brought all the Kindy children who have yet to start in our class this term to collect Matthew and Amelia who were on a visit. Golly what a lot of lovely wee folk!

Locklan loved making the chain stretch across like a banner.

Playing together with the animals.

We are getting fit ready for our school cross-country event - here we are coming back to class after our first 'funny running' time on the field!

Ms Shine came to join us on Thursday ready for her relieving next week when Mrs Savill is on a course.

Bodie brought in a nautilus shell from his holiday - hasn't he had a fabulous time?

Macy came on a visit - she can write her name already.

Our Maths this week is all about shapes, we are learning about side and corners in geometry. Making shapes from play dough enabled lots of language development.

One of our extension activities involving shapes was a memory matching shape game.

We decided our poppy needed a stalk and Bodie, Bella  and Lockie wanted to paint the stalks.

Using the i-pads to add number together.

Ava started school on Friday - three news girls this week!
