Week 10 Term 1, 2016. What a super week!

In art this week we have extended our Still Life topic to include sketching with chalk,

We used classroom chairs as a focus.

The results are quite wonderful, please come and view them in our purple corner in our 'art gallery!'. Out fruit still life drawings are now on show in the hall.

Look at the detail!

Discovery Time on Wednesday was perhaps our best ever with Pohutakawa class. I had saved up empty cardboard boxes...

!!!

The shop is a real hit making price tags, making money (I wish!) and packing bags.

Our colouring in activity (although it was Easter eggs and easter is over) was fun too.

The 'poppy' creative apparatus came out this week.

We have an inventor in our midst.

Gosh, Ewan, what have you designed I wonder?

Sol started school on Wednesday and is having  a ball.

Jayden had his first school visit. He was actually very happy to be here!

Show and tell sharing circle.

Ella brought a really old book, we loved reading it!

Buddy reading with our wonderful friends.

Number work, learning to join dot to dots in numerical order.

Playing maths games in our groups.

Making sausages - who can make the longest/shortest/ fattest?

Wow Ella is certainly ready for a move to another classroom, she has filled three sticker charts already!

We are looking at zero waste lunch boxes and finding ways to reduce packaging.

This is a great example of a zero waste lunch!

If chips are bought in one big bag and a handful sent to school in a zip lock bag, the packaging can be used again, you save lots of dollars and hey presto!

Or they can be popped into a pot!

Don't ask me why, but we decided to try picking up a pencil with our toes! Can you do it???

What awesome concentration!

We raised funds for Plunket today and brought our teddies to school.

This is what Ngaio whanau made today!

Five of my lucky children are on Core 5 licences and two achieved their first level certificates this week! Hooray for Kayla!

Hooray for Ewan!

Lillybelle has completed her first goal sheet in her writing book.

Vince has completed his, too.

And to top off a great week we even received the 'We Care' award - because we do care for our classroom, very much indeed.

NEXT WEEK
Four students begin their transition to Room three so will be spending mornings with their new class and only with us for afternoons, they are looking forward to it very much! Registration in Ngaio for them as usual though. Have a great weekend!
