Week Three in Room One.

Welcome to Room One! This is the photo record of our week - as every, lots of great learning - measuring in Maths, learning to jump and throw, discovery time, making special things to use as a focus for our writing, a visitor who taught us origami, many children on school visits - the list is long - I hope you enjoy it!
Welcome to Ryah who started school on Monday.

Nathan came on his first school visit and brought a book he made to share with us about his trip on a boat to Haulashore Island.

Sign Language with Wendy this week - Wendy started to go deaf when she was eleven years old so shared with our class what it is like to be hard of hearing.

Touch Rugby skills - our second week, it was super, the children worked really well together.

Tyler has completed his sticker chart - way to go, Tyler!

Last week we were delighted to receive the 'We Care' award as we are so careful to clear up after ourselves throughout the day. We keep our room clean and tidy - this shield is prized!

In Discovery Time this week we made haunted houses!

This was the last week of measuring in our class and we were learning how to use blocks to measure the length of things. Lexi is measuring rods.

Mrs Corcoran was our reliever whilst Mrs Savill was on C.R.T and assessing Maths levels. 
Cody was carefully measuring too.

Discovery - "We are making a volcano mountain, the biggest in the world!"

After measuring with cubes we were able to apply this knowledge to a worksheet in our Maths books!

Monday - Remember your book bag and hat! show and tell - bring something to share!
Tuesday - Visits from Dan and Nathan, Leo and Edward start school.
We will begin running for athletics with room two.

Wednesday - No Discovery today we have cricket training!A visit to the Kindy is planned. Sign language too. Library bags today please.
Thursday - Discovery time today. Mrs Corcoran will be here in the afternoon -Mrs Savill is off to prizegiving at Nayland College.
Friday - Our trip is this morning to the theatre Royal!
Assembly this afternoon at 2.30 all are welcome as usual.

Star of the week

Tyler is out star of the week for his great attitude.
Well done, Tyler, you are such a happy lad, always beaming your wonderful smile and joining in in class. You settled so well into school, you have completed your sticker chart already, you do your best at all times and are always in the right place for learning. I am delighted with you, Tyler, you are GREAT!

Week two in term four.

What a great week we have had, with the weather generally kind which meant we were able to have our touch rugby coaching outside and we could use the sandpit for discovery time.
I hope you enjoy this visual record of our learning from this week and wish you a very enjoyable Labour Day long weekend!

We are studying chemical reactions in Science and loved watching what happened to this bottle of coca cola when we added a Mento lolly....

Wow! What an eruption as the gas bubbles were released!

In Art we all made butterflies for the Project Butterfly charity.

Jack found two items which were different in size from the largest gingerbread man  and ordered them accordingly.

We are hard at work!

As an extension activity some of the children were able to cut out clothes to fit the gingerbread bodies..

NEXT WEEK
Monday - No school, labour day.
Tuesday - remember to bring your book bag and hat!
Wednesday - NZSL with Cathy. Library day (bring your bag) and Discovery time. Mrs Savill is on a course this afternoon so Mrs Corcoran will be teaching this afternoon.
Thursday - sharing time, wheels day and Mrs Savill is on release so Mrs Corcoran will be teaching in Room One.
Friday - whole school assembly at 2.30 all are welcome to attend.
